Steps to Take
Compose email from your preferred email account and address it to your professor and
TA.
If you do not know these email addresses, please refer to
your syllabus.
Make the subject of your email read "Comp 25 Fall 2009"
In the body of your email, please write each of the following:
- A sentence that
clearly states you "have read
and understood the
Comp25 course syllabus".
Below that, copy and paste the italicized "Homework-Lab
Statement" from the syllabus into the body of the email and
acknowledge that you have read and understood the due dates and
responsibilities for completing homework and lab assignments on
time.
- A paragraph that describes your experience with
computers:
- What programs do you use? Do you play games, write
papers, surf the net? For how long?
- Do you use a Mac or a PC?
- What special skills
might you already have? Have you done any programming or
specialized computing?
- Do you have any fears or apprehensions about computers
or technology?
- How would you rate your computer skills? Beginner,
Beginning-Intermediate, Intermediate, Advanced?
- Write a three-paragraph essay that describes your learning
objectives and course expectations:
Include:
- A sentence that explains why you are taking this class.
For General Ed? As a pre-requisite? Which
major?
- Do you have preconceived notions about the course?
What have you heard from others about Comp 25?
- How do you learn best? Are you an auditory,
visual or tactile learner?
- What do you expect to gain from Comp 25?
- How will this course supplement or enhance your
present technology skills?
- What grade do you expect from this course?
- What's the best way to earn an A in Comp 25?
Sign your email with your full name, and send it off.
