Comp25: HTML - Java Scripts & Extras

Learning Objectives

  1. To implement JavaScript to enhance your website
  2. To enhance your website with Flash, video, or sound

Steps to Take - JavaScript

  1. First choose any one of the following four JavaScripts handed out in class/lab to implement on your website:
    • Alert Popup Message
    • Mouse Over Image Swap
    • Today's Date
    • Custom Alert Box
  2. Choose a page (other than your index page) for the JavaScript, such as the Investor Relations page.  Open that page in NotePad and type the script.  You can refer to the lecture on Bells and Whistles for the necessary code.  Type the code as instructed very carefully... missing a single quote, apostrophe, or parenthesis can break the entire script.
  3. Save, test and then upload your edited page to Blackboard.

Steps to Take - Flash, Sound, or Video

  1. Choose to embed either a Flash animation, sound, or a video somewhere into your website (other than your index page), and find the media you want to include.  The media should be relevant to your company or the products you sell.
  2. Refer to the lecture to review how to add a sound or video.  Note that many media files have special restrictions and will not load properly on your webpage.  You may need to try several files before you are successful.
  3. Save and test.
