Comp25: Excel - Commission and Benefits

Assignment Goals

  1. To practice using Excel for a variety of functions to help the HR department calculate commission, bonuses, and benefits for your employees.
  2. You may collaborate with your fellow students in lab, but be sure to do you own work, so you understand the concepts.  You will be tested on these formulas.

Steps to Take

  1. Download this file and immediately save it to your U: Drive (in a place you won't lose it).
  2. Notice that there are multiple worksheets in the workbook.
  3. Complete all worksheets using the formulas and functions you have learned. 
    1. Yellow-background cells indicate where you need to provide formulas.
    2. Each worksheet has a blue explanation area that outlines the worksheets purpose and provides clues on how to complete it.  It's up to you to apply logic and then calculate the formulas.
    3. Be sure to use absolute cell references whenever necessary so that you can simply "pull down" the formula to other rows.  Do not use static values in a formula when the variable is expressed in it's own cell.
    4. Most worksheets require you to specify 10 employees.  Make sure you do not use real names.  You can use copy-and-paste to replicate these names once you've entered them once.
  4. Save the file again and upload it via Blackboard.
