Development of an Introduction
to Engineering Course, UOP - Fall 1999.
Significant updating of an in-place course. Key components include
Hands-On Laboraties involving the Design Process (two competitions:
Egg-Drop and Cardboard Vessel), Communication Skills (Verbal and Written),
Reverse Engineering, Webpage Development, Student Portfolios,
Engineering Ethics, etc.
PI - “Web-Based Multimedia
Modules for Laboratory Courses,” LaBoR ($25,000), 1998-2000.
Two-year project to fully develop and implement multimedia modules in the
Materials Testing Laboratory Courses at both LSU and Southern
University. Anticipate developing 12 complete modules that will be
accessible on the www and disseminating the method/template for
implementation in other lab courses.
PI - “JFAP/SE Inter-Campus
Composite Materials Class Projects,” LaBoR ($25,000), 1999-2001.
Introductory senior/master’s level Composite Materials courses will be
taught simultaneously at LSU and Southern University by the two JFAP
appointments in Mechanical Engineering. Projects involving the fabrication,
machining, testing and analysis of laminates will be addressed by
Inter-Campus Project Teams.
PI - “Multimedia Modules
for Laboratory Course Preparation,” LSU/IGA ($1,700), 1997-1998.
Enhancement of the undergraduate engineering laboratory experience through
Multimedia. Experimental background, set-up, procedures, etc.
available to students via the www; digital photographs and video demonstrations
incorporated. Links to related sites, other students and instructor
provided.
