DC-DC Regulated Power Supply

(click photo for full-size image)

Building a DC-DC regulated power supply is a continuing senior project, but in the interim we have a solution (and a pretty good one). In January 1997 I found three Converter Concepts VT75-343-10 75 Watt 20-60VDC to +5/+12/-12VDC switching supplies at HSC Electronic Supply in Sunnyvale, CA. I have no idea what these cost new but I bought them surplus for $25 each. After experimentation I found that the PC on Brak draws much less than the supply's ratings so only one is needed (never hurts to have some spares). It is being integrated into our overall power design to replace the PC's power supply completely and will draw its power either from two 12VDC lead-acid batteries in series or a beefy24VDC 16A AC-DC supply.
