USB Drivers for Linux

Description

This software package provides a basic starting point for future USb driver development under Linux. In the next generation of Brak, the motor and ultrasonic controller boards will use a USB interface. This will allow us to do away with the I2C interface board currently in use.

Status

This project is still under development. It originated as early as 1998 when USB interfaces had started to appear, but it wasn't seriously "attacked" until November 2000 during my sabbatical when all the pieces (hardware, software, and timeware) fell into place.

The first copies of the software development package were posted in January, 2001. Work on second-generation hardware board using the USB interface will being in Spring 2001.

Software

  • BRAK-USB software development package (includes source code and instructions)
    • Version 1.00 (01/Jan/06) (Gzipped TAR format, 44KB) -- this contains a sample Linux USB device driver, sample code for a USB device based on the Cypress Semiconductor AN2131 (EZ-USB) microcontroller with integrated USB interface, and various utilities and documentation. It also describes how to turn a Keyspan USB PDA Adapter into a cheap USB development platform.
