DESCRIPTION OR INDEX TO ATTACHED DESCRIPTION:

I. General Description:
The fall candidate activities consisted of polishing the 18" Bent in front of the School of Engineering and painting the Engineering "Rock" to show pride in Tau Beta Pi. The "Rock" is the symbol of our School of Engineering, and is painted multiple times each week by various campus organizations.

II. Purpose & Relationship to Objectives of TBPi:
Having candidates paint and polish helps us in evaluating their character by showing us that they are willing to actively participate in the organization. Each candidate adds their name to the "Rock" to show their pride in being chosen as a candidate.

III. Organization & Administration: in conjunction with another group? No
The officers purchased the supplies and supervised the activities.

IV. Cost & Personnel Requirements:
Many of the supplies were left over from previous semesters. We use Brass-O to polish the Bent and a can of white latex outdoor paint and a can of gold spray paint for the "Rock".

V. Special Problems:
Our friendly neighborhood Ace Hardware representative looked at us funny when we asked what kind of paint would be best to paint a rock. A previous organization had affixed cuttings of their hair all over the "Rock", and these presented a formidable obstacle that had to be cleared before we could do our painting. Also, the "Rock" was promptly repainted by another organization.

VI. Over-all Evaluation/Results (Be specific):
The activities served to foster a sense of camaraderie amongst the candidates. The Bent was badly in need of being polished and our candidates did a fine job.
