DESCRIPTION OR INDEX TO ATTACHED DESCRIPTION:

I. General Description:
Fall initiation was held in the President's Room (a formal reception room) on campus, with many members and faculty, as well as District Director Sherry Jennings-King, in attendance. The banquet following the event was catered by campus dining services, and took place in a campus dining room.

II. Purpose & Relationship to Objectives of TBPi:
The initiation took place in accordance with Tau Beta Pi guidelines. The banquet served to welcome and honor our new members.

III. Organization & Administration: in conjunction with another group? No
The chapter president and secretary sent out hand-written invitations to all Tau Beta Pi faculty and District 15 Directors. The vice-president was in charge of making sure that the initiation equipment was in order and that the initiation ceremony ran smoothly. The president made banquet plans and room reservations. The secretary ventured into the unknown realms of Physical Plant to arrange for delivery of chairs and tables to the initiation site.

IV. Cost & Personnel Requirements:
The chapter paid $23 for delivery of chairs and tables. The banquet cost was $8 per person. The officers devised a complicated pay scale for banquet attendees, in which candidates, District Directors, chapter advisors, and the Dean of Engineering were not asked to pay anything; other faculty members and student members paid $5, and guests were asked to pay the full $8. Much of the cost of the banquet was covered by the chapter's portion of initiate fees. There was no charge for using the two rooms for the events.

V. Special Problems:
Due to budgeting problems in getting funds distributed to Engineering clubs, we had no access to money to pay for the event. The Dean graciously allowed us to use his charge account until funds were available. We had difficulties using campus dining services because an exact guest count was needed 48 hours in advance, and we could not get a reliable list of attendees. We would suggest that in the future, some other arrangement be chosen so that an exact guest count is not needed. Also, for some reason never quite understood, we were unable to order both meat and vegetarian lasagna, and had to opt for all vegetarian.

VI. Over-all Evaluation/Results (Be specific):
Overall, this event went very well. We had the largest faculty member turnout since perhaps our installation in 1988. Despite the fact that the food was catered by campus dining services and had to be all vegetarian, the fare was quite delectable.
