DESCRIPTION OR INDEX TO ATTACHED DESCRIPTION:

I. General Description:
NetDay96 was a statewide project aimed at wiring all K-12 schools in California for Internet access. Volunteers at the Creekside Elementary School in Stockton pulled cable in 8 classrooms and the library.

II. Purpose & Relationship to Objectives of TBPi:
Our chapter wholly supports the ideal of providing this resource so vital to the future of today's students.

III. Organization & Administration: in conjunction with another group? Yes
NetDay96 was funded by private donations and organized by a small group of volunteers in industry. Each school had a sponsor to provide funding and an organizer to spearhead the effort and handle the technical details. The Society of Women Engineers at UOP donated some of the funding for the wiring kit, and Tau Bates volunteered alongside parents and community members to get the job done.

IV. Cost & Personnel Requirements:
There was no cost to the chapter; seven Tau Bates showed up and we had more than enough help given the tools at hand.

V. Special Problems:
There were no problems other than various fiberglass-related maladies.

VI. Over-all Evaluation/Results (Be specific):
The process was completed quicker than we expected, and the school provided good donuts to all volunteers. We also enjoyed reading the children's literature selections in the library during idle time.
