Once I get an invitation (bid), what happens? |
AKL...come be a leader...not a member! |
The CALL to leadership is now! Alpha Kappa Lambda does not ask you to join a fraternity and never experience the challenge of being a leader. In fact, you become involved as a leader as soon as you become a pledge! The goal of our fraternity is to make sure that you grow as a person both academically and socially. Being part of a national fraternity, Alpha Kappa Lambda has access to many resources in order to help you gain leadership experience. This includes conventions, seminars, and workshops, all set up to help you realize your potential. |
So how do I become a part of Alpha Kappa Lambda? |
To accept your invitation to join AKL, we will give you a copy of our Pledge Bill
of Rights to sign. What's that? Your pledge bill of rights basically protects your rights as a pledge. It reads: AKL Pledge Bill of Rights WHEREAS the Fraternity of Alpha Kappa Lambda opposes all forms of hazing and is comitted to a program of Fraternity Education that is an educationally and socially maturing process; THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the following be considered the "Bill of Rights" for a pledge member in the Fraternity of Alpha Kappa Lambda. Each pledge member, as a fundamental right which is an inherent part of his association with the Fraternity of Alpha Kappa Lambda, may refuse to participate in any activity which he feels will: Endanger his physical and/or mental health Reduce his self-esteem Violate any local, state, or federal law Involve the use of alcohol Violate his moral or religious convictions Any descrimination, or threatened discrimination, towards a pledge member by reason of his exercise of this "Bill of Rights" should be reported to the Chapter President and/or Executive Director of the Fraternity of Alpha Kappa Lambda at 317-585-4911. |
What are those pins I see people wearing all the time? |
The AKL pledge pin is a symbol of your commitment as a pledge.
At the beginning of the pledge period, each pledge recieves one and wears it until
they are intiated as a full member. |
