| Small Group Every residence hall, or a combination of two or more halls, has a bible study on a weekly basis; these are what are referred to as Small Groups. Some have their small group bible study on Mondays, some on Tuesdays, and even some on Wednesdays. Basically there is a bible study going on at least three days a week. Each small group is scheduled according to the availability of the members, so each semester the days and times may change. Small Groups operate using a system known as inductive studying, which means that they look at a passage and based on what they observe, come to a conclusion as to what is being said or conveyed. The passages are written in manuscript form, meaning that the text is double-spaced and printed on single sheets of paper, allowing the members to make notes and focus on the passages more effectively. Each Small Group is generally lead by two small group leaders who study the passage beforehand developing questions, which will help initiate discussion. Small Groups are also encouraged to participate in outreach activities for the community as well as in the residence halls. For more information concerning small groups talk to erin@uop.edu |
