The University of the Pacific, under the Sport Sciences Department have developed an Athletic Training Track that's specifically designed to provide theoretical and practical learning experiences requisite to Athletic Training Certification (NATA=National Athletic Trainers Association) or Advanced Scientific Study. In addition to successfully completing the Sport Sciences Core, Athletic Training students must successfully complete a series of courses within the department and adjunct courses from the natural and behavioral sciences. Athletic Training students must also be proficient in entry level athletic training skills and complete 1500  hours of internship experience in an athletic training clinical setting.

Employment opportunities following completion of the Athletic Training Track and the NATA Certification Examination include athletic training in the secondary school level, professional athletic training, and work toward advanced degrees in areas related to Athletic Training and Sports Medicine.

UOP currently has a club on campus for students interested in the field of Athletic Training.  The Pacific Student Athletic Trainers are committed to introducing the field of Athletic Training to the student body of the University of the Pacific, as well as the surrounding communities by sponsoring various events on campus and by providing community service to the city of Stockton and neighboring areas.
