Internship, Nibbi Bros, Inc.
Summer 2001

During the summer of 2001, I interned at Nibbi Bros. Inc. a construction company in the Portero Hill district of San Francisco. My internship consisted of going to two different job site; the main office located on 17th Street and one of the construction site next to the Pac Bell park, called Orlando Cepeda Place.

During the first couple weeks of my internship, from Monday to Wednesday, I worked at the Orlando job site; Thursday to Friday at the main office. My job responsibility at the job site is to help assist the project (the construction project); helping with answering the phone, filing, etc. I worked inside a trailer located on 150 Berry Street. Working in the trailer with me is the Project Manager (my supervisor), Superintendent, Assistant Project Manager, and the Office Manager. The Orlando Cepeda Place is the Affordable Mission Project located on Mission Bay (near South Market) for low-income families. The completion date for the project is May 2002; beginning date is January 2001.

I started my internship right after my regular school year ended and will end right before my next school year starts. For the first three weeks, I worked from 1pm ‘til 4pm because I was taking a yoga class at City College.

After working six weeks, I begun to work full time (everyday) at the main office. The office is on 1433 17th Street. My main responsibility at the main office is to help with the company’s website (http://www.nibbi.com). The building of the main office is actually three small (two-floor) buildings connected together in the inside. At first sight, it seems like it is just three separated building but once you have taken a tour of the whole building it is actually connected together. Not more than 30 employees work at the office, the other rest of the employees work at various different construction/job site throughout the Bay Area. From working on the website, I am able to learn more about the company indirectly. Nibbi Brothers did a lot of projects during the past few years. These projects include the renovation and construction of housings, commercials, schools, and hospitals.
